Year 5 News

21 Nov 25

Another great week for Year 5. They have been enjoying the last few chapters of Holes by Louis Sachar. What an amazingly well written narrative! They loved how it all tied together at the end - we all loved the happy ending! I think they were inspired by this as their scene setting writing has been super this week. The children had some fantastic ideas for similes and metaphors, and are looking forward to continuing the work into our Christmas story.

This week:
In maths we are learning how to add mixed numbers.
In English we are planning and writing a narrative setting.
In reading we are evaluated our reading lesson book.
In science we are pulling together all our learning from this unit of work and have been answering our "Big Question."

Next week:
In maths we will be learning how to subtract mixed numbers.
In reading we will discussing our next reading text and enjoying some festive book babbles.
In science we will be finishing off the filming and voice overs so we can watch each others work.

Important things to remember:

Christmas lunch on Thursday 18th December and Carol Service at the church on Friday 19th December.
