Year 5 News

Welcome to the final term in Year 5! The children have settled back in extremely well for, what will be, a very busy term. The children enjoyed visiting different classes this week, measuring the circumference of the heads of children (and adults) around the school.

This week:

In maths we are learning how to add and subtract decimals with different numbers of decimal places.

In English we are learning the features of a play script.

In reading we are learning strategies to use when completing a written comprehension.

In science we are carrying out a pattern-seeking investigation.

Next week:

In maths we will be learning about cubic centimetres, volume and capacity.

In English we will be learning how to plan and write a play script.

In reading we will be learning how to identify character emotion within dialogue.

In science we will be learning how different animals live together.

Important things to remember:

I will be away with Year 6 on school journey next week; Mrs Tringham will be in class on Monday and Tuesday; Mr Hipkiss on Wednesday and Thursday and Mrs Hancock on Friday. Mr Wallis will be supporting all week as usual and Mrs Marriage will also be with the children on Monday and Tuesday. Please ensure you have replied to the music evening invitation and return slips for the upcoming trip to Herstmonceux on Tuesday 16th June.
